Rome: Quick tips!

Rome is a great city and  after my stay there, I have a few things to share with you guys that I think will come in handy for your visit.

Airport is quiet far from the city center, so take a 45 minute bus ride for 5 Euro from Fumicino to Roma Termini, or take the subway for around 8 Euros.

Stay close to the city center. Places around Via Merulana, and Via Cavour offer great prices. I do recommend this hostel called Hotel Martino Ai Monti located in this area with amazing English-speaking staff and great breakfast for a very affordable price. Skip the area right next to the Termini, it gets a little sketchy at night.

In Rome there are thousands of things to do, but if you are planning on going to churches, make sure you cover your shoulders and knees, for women and men. They have a very strict dress code.

For food, find small cafeterias that offer Pizza + Beer/Wine, Panino + Beer/Wine or Past + Beer and Wine for around 5 to 8 Euros. These places offer very good deals and the exact same thing than in more expensive places. Don’t forget the Gelato, it’s literally everywhere you go in Rome, you can get one scoop for around 2 – 3 Euros in most cases. My favorite was Gelateria S.M.Maggiore.

To get around, find a very comfortable pair of shoes and enjoy the city while walking.

You can find plenty of free water and fountains around the city. However they don’t look like the ones in the states. If you’re a little skeptical about it, don’t worry you can get 1Lt water bottles for as cheap as 17 Cents in supermarkets. Skip the convenient stores that changes 1,5 Euros for the same bottle.

Going to the Vatican City? Make sure you follow the dress code and don’t go on Sundays because everything is closed, with exception of the last sunday of every month when admission to the museums is free and everything is open.

Coliseum, Palatino and other attractions get very crowded, so try to get up early and skip the lines, and don’t forget your student ID, because many places carry student discounts that you don’t want to miss.

Overall, Rome is a great city, amazing food and great people!

Leave in the comments down below any questions that you may have about Rome, I kept it short here but I have more tips if you're interested.

Rimmel London Match Perfection Foundation

I am not a foundation girl, I got to say that I’d rather powder my face than applying foundation, because I find it kind of heavy, and as I have very oily skin, I tend to get shinny over the day. So yes, I tried this out because so much people was talking about it that I couldn’t help it.

The Rimmel London Match Perfection Foundation is a very good quality foundation for a drugstore brand, and what I mean with this is that so many times, drugstore companies tend to launch foundations that are either too heavy or with not coverage at all, like tinted moisturizer. I find this to be a light-feeling foundation with the average coverage, and that’s what I like in a foundation. I’m not into heavy coverage, we all have imperfections and that gives you a natural look. Nobody likes a completely perfect, fake-looking face. It gives a fresh look, great on everyone.

The packaging is something I really don’t like in most foundation. The fact that does not have a pump, to me, seems not hygienic at all, and that is something I don’t understand of almost all drugstore foundation, and even some high end. However, I was told that in the UK it does have a pump, which gives this foundation like 100 points. The color range is good; they have a lot of options and it also has sunscreen being a plus for any beauty product. The staying power was better than what I thought it would be, I just touched it up with some powder and I was good to go. Overall it’s a very good quality product for a very affordable price.

I think Rimmel London, is one of those drugstores companies that has a good product on any kind of beauty products. There is always a good choice, either foundation, lipstick, concealers or mascara. I like a lot Rimmel products at the moment, soon I’ll be uploading a review on Apocalips lip lacquers.

You can pick this up at Ulta, Walmart, Target, Walgreens, CVS and ASOS.com.

Loreal Colour Riche Caresse Lipgloss

I’ve been waiting to try this for ages, and finally the time has come. I’ve heard every kind of comments about it, most about how amazing it is, and I’m pretty skeptical with a product with such hype, but here it is.
The Loreal Colour Riche Caresse Lipgloss (Long name) is the brand new lipgloss that Loreal launched in the states last winter and it comes in 12 different colors. I’ve wanted to write a review about it for so long and now it’s here.

This lipgloss is the perfect glossy stain that is not sticky and stays on for hours without touching up. It’s a very liquidy formula, which surprised me for being a lipgloss, but it’s very similar to YSL. The feeling on the lips is great; it’s not sticky or uncomfortable to wear, as many lip-glosses are. You can layer it up as you like, just one layer if you like a little pop of color or 2 layers for a colorful look.

The color range is not that good, I found some of them very similar and also, the color doesn’t look the same in the packaging as it look on your lips. It does have a gorgeous pigmentation and makes your lips look sexy as crazy.

The packaging couldn’t be better, I do thing that it’s better than most of high end ones, because it look elegant, and also expensive, which is not if you compare prices. The staying power is amazing, I wore it for partying and I was constantly checking if I needed a touch up, and after hours it looked perfect, I came home late at night and it was perfect.

The amount of product you get is not that much, but for the quality of the product that is beyond this world, I believe it’s worth the price. The only thing I really didn’t like, was the color range. I wish they had better color choices, maybe less colors but better selection of shades if you know what I mean.

Overall it’s a great lipgloss, I recommend it 100%, and it’s a very good choice if you like colorful lip with that glossy look. If you tried out too, let me know in the comments how it worked for you.

You can find this at Target, and Ulta in the US. Outside the US, you can find it at Duty Free stores.

Bioderma Sensibio H2O

The hype for Bioderma is incredible over the blogging world, and I could find plenty of reviews about it. So here it is. I brought a bottle to try it and review how it works, and so far I’m very happy with it.

Bioderma Sensibio H2O is a cleansing water, and basically for removing makeup, and dirtiness on your face. It actually is a micelle solution, what means it’s not a toner or something like that, it doesn’t have alcohol either. It acts like soapy water, without drying your skin and removing all residues. There is no need to rinse, you just apply to a cotton pad and then go all over your face, holding a little where there is waterproof makeup, especially mascara.

My overall opinion is that it’s a great product for lazy people, so if you hate going to the sink at night to wash your face, this is for you, no doubt. It’s a great product, and but sadly is hard to find in the states. The feeling on the skin is like water, it’s not sticky, doesn’t have a smell, and it’s specially made for sensitive skin types, so if you’re one of those wondering if this will cause any reaction, give it a try.

I bought the big bottle that comes with a pump, and it’s the most useful thing ever. You just put the cotton pat on it and press the pump, that’s it. It’s obviously not practical for traveling, but for everyday it’s just perfect. I’m using Bioderma Sensibio H2O every day for removing my makeup and also when I feel I need to clean my face, like after the gym or something like that. I recommend this for everyone who is as lazy as I am for removing makeup at night, just put it on your night stand and your laziness will be rewarded, no question. The price, it’s a bit high but I think it’s worth the price. If you’re not sure, start with a small bottle to try it out, and then if you like it you’ll be more comfortable spending more money on it.

I know this product is hard to find outside France basically, but I know there are plenty of places in Colombia where to find it and if there is one of those stores in your country, there should be Bioderma. In the meantime, you can try Amazon or EBay, or if you have a friend traveling to France or Latin America, don’t forget to ask for a bottle, it’s worth the price.

In Colombia you can find it in Fedco, Locatel, and Farmatodo. In the US you can find it on Amazon, but it’s hard to find.

Let me know your opinions in the comments and also if you know a place where to find it.

Organix Singapore Keratin Therapy Hydrating Masque

These days I’ve been looking for something new for my hair (as every single day in my life) and I ran into this. It’s the Organix Singapore Keratin Therapy Hydrating Keratin Masque. To start talking about this, I first need to explain you somehow my hair’s personality. My hair (Who I insanely love) is a curly brown gorgeous mess, kinda frizzy, and pretty stubborn. So, I usually need something to calm this fierce down, and that’s basically what I look for in a hair product.

While I’m studying and I get bored, I go to the CVS to stare at things I wish did miracles on me. And recently I found something interesting, a product that promises straighten your hair so as the infamous keratin treatment. I’m not interested at all on straighten my hair; I do love it as he is, but I was caught with the smooth word. So, I bought it and brought it home to try it out, and here are my thoughts about it.

First, the smell is a love/hate feature, and as I concern, I love it. It’s this kind of coconut oil mixed with chocolate smell that makes you wanna eat it. This is something I usually enjoy in hair products however, in this case I think they cross the line between sutil and way too much. After I rinsed my hair out, I still smell the treatment. At that moment I thought “I’m still in the bathroom, it’ll go away eventually”, well I wasn’t that much right. The smell stays with you the whole day, it’s impossible to take it off. Everyone in my house and at school asked me why I smell like coconut?

Second, it actually works. I have really curly hair, so I didn’t expected to be straight after using this. But I was looking for a smooth and shiny result, rather than a straight result, and I found that it leaves your hair with a really silky texture. I didn’t use it how they advise using it, I left it on around 10 minutes (a bit more than what says in the packaging) just because my hair is very difficult to tame, and it worked. I recommend it if you’re looking a result like this, if you’re looking for something that straighten your hair, Organix might work on you if you have not so messy hair like mine.

And last but not least, the price-quality is average to a hair product. These treatments tend to be a bit more expensive than normal shampoo or conditioners, and this is the case as well. The Organix Singapore’s price rounds between 7 and 8 dollars, which isn’t that bad for what your get.

In general, it’s a good product if you’re looking for smoother your hair. Although I’m not sure whether it will actually work on straightens hair, please let me know your thoughts about it.

You can pick it up from CVS, Target, Walmart, Ulta and most of the retailers and drug stores in the US.
